Partner in Water
Monday, June 03, 2013
This summer we have so many exciting things coming up in India and in the USA and one of these is a water project with People Water.
We are working with People Water to bring clean water to our local village as well as many of our Leprosy Colonies who are in need. We are excited for this partnership and the many people we will be able to help in a few short days.
Clean water is essential to a healthy life! It is extremely important for our patients that are affected by leprosy to have clean water as their immune systems are compromised by the disease. People with leprosy are often plagued with open ulcers that need to be consistently cleaned and re-bandaged in order for healing to take place. Clean water is essential here, as a clean wound cannot be achieved with water that is contaminated. Our patients need to also ingest clean water to avoid exposure to other waterborne or water transferred health risks such as diarrhea, typhoid, cholera, malaria, parasitic worms and many others.
People Water has been a supporter of Rising Star Outreach and this year are coming to our campus in India. They will be working with out India Team starting next week! Please check out Instagram, Facebook and Blog for updates on what we are doing.
Cody Barker, People Water's Co-Founder and Chief Water Giver will be here. When Cody was asked about his upcoming trip to India he said,
"I am so excited to go to India with Rising Star Outreach, wouldn't have it any other way. Since learning about what they do I've wanted to experience India. Water is an essential part of live for all of us but nearly 1 billion people do not have access to it. Working with Rising Star Outreach we hope to bring clean water to thousands. Water is life."
People Water has a unique approach to business, they believe, "beyond a company’s financial performance we should support businesses that create positive social outcomes." (Peoplewater.com) But why does a for-profit business make sure they include a method of giving back to their global community? Their answer-
"We give because we want everyone in the world to have a chance to be happy. That's it. That is the only reason. We want everyone to have clean water for the simple reason that it is a lot harder to be happy when you're sick–and it’s a lot harder to be healthy when the water you drink is killing you."
